Disneyland & California Adventure - Part 3

Day three of our trip and we were tired. Poor Dad just couldn't walk another 12 hour day. We got Dad a wheelchair so he could rest his back and knees. We started off our California Adventure at the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. First stop, Monsters, Inc.

Monsters, Inc. Mike and Sulley to the Rescue!
Open the door to a wild ride through the streets of Monstropolis! Hop in a taxi and follow along as Mike and Sulley embark on a mad scramble to return Boo to her bedroom, while keeping her safe from the sneaky Randall Boggs and the Child Detection Agency. Scare up some monstrous fun in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot at Disney's California Adventure® Park. Chase through scenes inspired by Disney·Pixar's film, "Monsters, Inc." Receive a personal farewell from the ever-watchful Roz.

Aidan had to grab a picture with Wall-E.

Turtle Talk with Crush

Have an in-depth chat with Crush, the totally awesome sea turtle from the Disney·Pixar film, "Finding Nemo." Engage in live, unrehearsed conversations with this denizen of the digital deep who talks, jokes and even recognizes Guests. Dive into this Disney Animation attraction at Disney's California Adventure Park. Turtle Talk with Crush uses real-time animation for live conversations. Crush's speech and actions are specific to each audience. Crush asks Guests questions about the human world and answers questions about his underwater world.

Aidan was so excited to talk with Turtle Crush.

Flik’s Flyers

Ride in Flik's bug-made contraption fashioned from man-made objects, proving “one man's trash is another bug's treasure.” Leaves and twigs stitched together become “balloons” that you ride. Whirl around a pie plate centerpiece

Looking down at Allan, Mom and Dad.

Francis’ Ladybug Boogie

Boogie down with all six legs! Your favorite Toons dance to their favorite tunes on this hectic figure eight shaped dance floor. Steer clear of the near-miss action and enjoy the ride! Ride in a ladybug. Figure-8-shaped course. Miss collisions in the nick of time!

Tuck and Roll’s Drive’Em Buggies

You never know whom you might bump into under the circus tent! At P.T. Flea's circus, the acrobatic Tuck 'n' Roll, from Disney/Pixar's “a bug's life” put on quite a show and you are along for the ride. You drive! Your bumper car looks just like a pill bug. Tuck 'n' Roll themselves direct you with their wild gibberish.

Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train

Heimlich journeys for tasty morsels and takes you along for a ride down a switchback trail lined with delectable goodies. Ride the rails on Heimlich's back. Travel at the whim of the taste buds of one famished bug. Listen to Heimlich talk as he anticipates the treat sensation he's about to enjoy. Use all of your senses, including smell!

We enjoyed lunch on the Pier. It is very similar to the San Francisco Pier.

While Mom and Dad took a rest, Allan, Aidan and I wondered up Hwy 49.

Allan and Aidan joined in the fun.

King Triton’s Carousel

The only horse you'll find on this unique marine menagerie of a carousel is a seahorse. This bejeweled, ornately hand-carved, aquatic carousel features: Colorful Seahorses, Flying Fish, Musical Whales, Dancing Dolphins, Silly Sea Lions And Seaworthy Music that sets them all spinning!

Toy Story Mania!

Step right up and compete in an interactive "Toy Story" adventure like no other. It's Toy Story Mania! — a brand new attraction inspired by Disney Pixar’s “Toy Story” films. Grab some 3-D glasses, board your ride vehicle and zip off into a 4-D world of exciting, midway-style games. Play games hosted by favorite Characters including Woody, Buzz, Rex and Hamm! Use your spring-action shooter to launch darts at balloons, rings at aliens, eggs at barnyard targets and more! Certain targets trigger surprise reactions and special effects. Compete for the high score. It's never the same experience twice.

Jumpin’ Jellyfish

Sail straight up 40 feet into the air and drift like a jellyfish back down in this kid-friendly experience that's enough to make you jump for joy. Billowing parachutes enhance the sensation that you are riding in a giant jellyfish. A towering kelp garden maintains the feeling that you are underwater. There's nothing fishy about why this will make a splash with kids of all ages

Mulholland Madness

Drive yourself silly as you motor down the twisting path inspired by L.A.'s famed Mulholland Drive that leads to Malibu. Hang on aboard this "wild mouse" roller-coaster. Takes you on a winding, obstacle-ridden, fun-filled drive. Ride three stories above Paradise Pier

Aidan loved it. Can you tell?

Aidan couldn't wait for the parade to begin.

Pixar Play Parade

Join in the fun as the Pixar Play Parade makes its way through Disney’s California Adventure® Park. Familiar faces from every Disney·Pixar film are along for the ride, including: Roz, Sulley and friends from “Monsters, Inc.”, Flik, Atta, Heimlich and their buddies from “A Bug’s Life”, The Parr family from “The Incredibles”, Dori, Marlin, Crush and Squirt from “Finding Nemo”, Remy, Emile and company from “Ratatouille”, Woody, Buzz, the Little Green Men and their “Toy Story” pals, Lightning McQueen and Mater from “Cars” plus, a few extra special surprises! If you love Pixar movies, and you love to play, you won’t want to miss this chance to have some fun with the stars of your favorite films!

We finished off the day by going on Soarin' Over California. It was really cool.

Soarin’ Over California

Imagine you are flying in a hang glider. Now picture yourself soaring from one end to the other of the California that Walt Disney adored. Enjoy this awe-inspiring scenic tour of the Golden State, ending with a bird's eye view of the Disneyland® Resort itself. Take in breathtaking aerial vistas as you fly in this simulated hang glider. Dangle your toes above spectacular sites like the Golden Gate Bridge and Yosemite. Feel the wind in your hair as you see the glories of California and understand why Walt Disney made it his home.

This was the most exhausting vacation I have ever been on, yet worth every minute to see my baby smile.
